Hyperkidz

Problem:

The percentage of children with obesity issues in the United States has more than tripled since the 1970s. Childhood obesity can be caused by many factors including unhealthy nutritional habits, lifestyles, and a lack of physical activity. This can lead to many health issues such as diabetes, blood pressure problems, and high cholesterol.

Along with this, obese children are more likely to have low self-esteem and can become ashamed of their bodies. Depression ingrained into the early developmental part of life increases the chances of clinical depression.

Solution:

Create a child friendly mobile app that helps tackle the problem of child obesity. This that will allow children to remain physically active while enjoying time with friends and family.

Hyperkidz, an app developed to help fight obesity while allowing kids to have fun and engage with each other. Kids will compete against each other to complete daily challenges and try to have the fastest time while completing the challenge. At the end of each week, there is an in-app crowning of the winner with the best time. Each winner will receive an award for being that weeks winner.

Myriad Pro semi-bold typeface was used in the design to give a clean feel to the app. Being a sans serif the typeface lends itself for easy legibility so that the user can follow the text easily.

Repeated diamonds were used to create the background pattern. This helped the app have contrast with he foreground assets. It also help care the eye of the user down the screens of the app.
