Oneida is a company that offers the largest selection of flatware and a great assortment of dinnerware, serveware, cookware, bakeware, and more. The waiters corkscrew opener main target audience is those who consume wine regularly. Also restaurant waiters are the main users of this product. The product that this project focuses on is the waiters corkscrew.
In this time in age there are many products out there that seem to be over-packaged. Over packing our products and making packaging not being reusable or recyclable is causing our natural resources to become limited or worst extinct. As consumers and designers we must be able to help out and reach a more sustainable design for packaging these products.
The solution to the problem is to re-design the packaging of the Oneida corkscrew. The new design must be done to meet sustainability qualities. These include the reduction of materials used, reusable, and be recyclable.
The packaging that the company uses for its can and bottle openers are a cardboard backing piece. Even though this is a recyclable material; the amount of it that is used could be less and still have a good aesthetic look to it.
